Boxing Day smiles with the boys....
We’ve done our usual Wednesday evening shift feeding the boys on the presqu’île. But tonight was Boxing Day, or 2nd Christmas Day. We weren’t sure a couple of weeks ago if we should cancel as only a few of us were available but we managed it and, as always, it was a pleasure to spend time with them and see the joy a meal or just some chocolate can bring. One lad got a pair of boots tonight that we had donated through Chawn Hill Church in the U.K., and he was overjoyed! He, with pleasure, ditched his old shoes in the bin! One other guy told us how much he loved chocolate so we made sure he left with a bar for himself to enjoy tomorrow!
I think one lad ate 6 wraps he was so hungry but it was nice he could.
We were few tonight but it started with some very sad and quiet clusters of lads and ended with some joy and just little moments of celebration. I’ll never get tired of seeing those smiles return, even if it’s just for a while. #alwaysworththework
